Sam Chapple-Sokol
Public diplomacy, specialized in culinary diplomacy, with field experience in gastronomy and pastry
Sam Chapple-Sokol is one of the founding theorists of culinary diplomacy. In his reference article Culinary Diplomacy: Breaking Bread to Win Hearts and Minds (The Hague Journal of Diplomacy, 2013), now cited by more than forty academic works, he distinguishes between the uses of the table by heads of state, gastrodiplomacy as an instrument of soft power for governments, and the power of food to connect individuals together.
